After training in both fashion and art, Jenny Almén Gunnerfeldt began working as a design assistant for the companies Rockport and Filippa K. She also produced her own clothing line for over six years. ''The reason I started to draw was originally as a way of processing various feelings I had,'' she says. ''Instead of writing a diary, I illustrated my emotions and situations''. That's how Jenny found her style. Her images are often edgy and naive but with an adult, serious and slightly angry undertone. ''I draw roughly and unpretentiously, just let the pen go and see what comes out''. One project that brought Jenny a lot of attention was her illustrated cushions which have appeared frequently in international interior design magazines and in publications such as Elle Interior, Family Living, Sköna Hem and Trädgårdsliv. She has also exhibited them at Galleri Kocks, Tjalla Malla and Boo trädgård. ''I only make one of each, so every pillow is unique and has its own history,'' she says. ''I never make sketches, I draw directly on the fabric. You could call it a continuation of my diary pictures. The thoughts I have in my head that day, that's what's drawn on the pillow''. Nowadays, Jenny combines freelancing as an illustrator with an art teaching job at Kungstensgymnasiet.
