Being raised in Leipzig, East Germany, by two renowned graphic artists, Georg got introduced to the visual arts at an early age.

He was trained in painting, scetching and sculpting but soon photography emerged as his greatest passion. As an adolescent, Georg had his first exhibition, which was followed by several more throughout his photographic career.

During his studies of photography at the famous “Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig” he secondary worked as a photo reporter and cameraman. Georg mainly focused on reportage photography throughout his studies. This changed rigorously while assisting in Paris, where he was introduced to beauty and fashion photography.

After having assisted many well-known photographers in Paris and Hamburg, Georg was fortunate to begin his freelance career by shooting a worldwide campaign for the Beiersdorf brand “Eucerin”.

He has since photographed for numerous notable clients, including L´Oréal, Wella, Joop!, Nivea, Mercedes, Procter & Gamble and has portrayed the likes of Helmut Newton, Paolo Roversi, Ron Arad, Dennis Hopper, Brian Eno, Zaha Hadid, Ralph Gibson, Richard Hamilton and David Bailey.

With an outstanding eye for light and composition, Georg combines a clean and striking picture language with graphic simplicity. Georg Wendt currently lives in Hamburg with his wife and their three sons.
