Ridley Scott will be honored with DGA’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Distinguished Achievement in Motion Picture Direction
The top honor given by the Director’s Guild of America, the Lifetime Achievement Award, will be presented to Ridley Scott at the 69th Annual DGA Awards on February 4, 2017 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
“Masterful in any genre, Ridley’s groundbreaking methods and peerless directing instincts have brought to life some of the most memorable films of our time, capturing the resilience of the human spirit and captivating the hearts and minds of audiences around the world,” said DGA President Paris Barclay. “Stunning visuals, immersive worlds and powerful performances underpin his diverse body of work which ranges from Alien, Blade Runner and Thelma & Louise to Gladiator, Black Hawk Down and, most recently, The Martian.
Over the course of four decades, his trailblazing career has demonstrated the impact and importance of the director’s singular vision. For these reasons, and so many more, we are honored to present the Lifetime Achievement Award in feature film to Ridley Scott.”
The DGA Lifetime Achievement Award is selected by the present and past presidents of the guild. In the Guild’s 80-year history, just 34 directors have been recognized with this honor including: Cecil B. DeMille (1953), Frank Capra (1959), Alfred Hitchcock (1968), Orson Welles (1984), Billy Wilder (1985), Steven Spielberg (2000), Martin Scorsese (2003), and most recently Miloš Forman (2013).

He is best known for hosting several late-night talk shows; since 2010 he has hosted Conan on the cable channel TBS. O'Brien was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, and was raised in an Irish Catholic family. He served as president of The Harvard Lampoon while attending Harvard University, and was a writer for the sketch comedy series Not Necessarily the News.

After writing for several comedy shows in Los Angeles, he joined the writing staff of Saturday Night Live. O'Brien was a writer and producer for The Simpsons for two seasons until he was commissioned by NBC to take over David Letterman's position as host of Late Night in 1993. A virtual unknown to the public, O'Brien's initial Late Night tenure received unfavorable reviews and remained on a multiweek renewal cycle during its early years. The show generally improved over time and was highly regarded by the time of his departure in 2009. Afterwards, O'Brien relocated from New York to Los Angeles to host his own incarnation of The Tonight Show for seven months until network politics prompted a host change in 2010.
Known for his spontaneous hosting style, which has been characterized as "awkward, self-deprecating humor", O'Brien's late-night programs combine the "lewd and wacky with more elegant, narrative-driven short films (remotes)".[11] He has hosted Conan since 2010 and has also hosted such events as the Emmy Awards and Christmas in Washington.[12][13] O'Brien has been the subject of a documentary, Conan O'Brien Can't Stop (2011), and has also hosted a 32-city live comedy tour.

Der neue Spot von Beats zeigt wie sich drei der weltbesten Fußballer mit Musik auf das Spiel aller Spiele vorbereiten, ihre mentalen Gegner hinter sich lassen und Teil der Neuinterpretation des legendären Musikvideos von The Prodigy’s „Firestarter“ werden.
Beats by Dr. Dre stellt heute das neueste Kapitel seiner b [ ] READY Kampagne vor – eine Neuinterpretation des legendären Musikvideos von The Prodigy’s „Firestarter“. In dem neuen Spot, der in Zusammenarbeit mit RGA/Hustle entstanden ist, spielen Deutschlands WM-Torschütze Mario Götze, der englische Angreifer Harry Kane und der französische Hoffnungsträger Antoine Griezmann die Hauptrollen. Spaniens Mittelfeldregisseur Cesc Fabregas hat einen Überraschungsauftritt.
Regisseur Adam Hashemi (Reset) inszeniert die Spieler im Stile des legendären Videos zu „Firestarter“ von The Prodigy. Sie setzen ihre Kopfhörer auf und befinden sich direkt im Tunnel des „Firestarter“ Musikvideos. Der schwarz weiße anmutende Tunnel wird zum Labyrinth aus scheinbar endlosen Gängen, in dem die Spieler ihre eigenen mentalen „Gegner“ ausspielen und hinter sich lassen müssen, um schlussendlich das Spielfeld zu erreichen. Aus dem „Firestarter“ Tunnel wird wieder der Spielertunnel und während die Spieler das Feld betreten, ist klar, dass das „Feuer entzündet“ ist und sie bereit sind, das Spiel an sich zu reißen. Der Spot wurde im gleichen Tunnel gedreht, wie das Originalvideo zu „Firestarter“ von Regisseur Walter Stern.

Während die Welt gespannt auf die EURO 2016 blickt, demonstriert Beats mit den weltbekannten Ausnahmeathleten Götze, Kane & Griezmann eindrucksvoll, wie man als Marke eine fesselnde und spannende Geschichte erzählt. Beats hat es als Marke geschafft, Musik und Sport zu verschmelzen und ist damit ein mittlerweile wesentlicher Bestandteil der Vorbereitung zahlreicher Athleten auf der ganzen Welt.
