Book Recommendation : Weißes Herz - photo realistic work by painter Philipp Weber

Just as beautiful as photographs! Philipp Weber consciously picked the " Weißes Herz" (white heart) title, as the series is to be associated with all things fairytale-like, for example “Snow White”… The series presents the artificial and clichéd aspects of the fashion and advertising worlds.

It is inspired by fairytales and legends. In these tales innocence and purity is usually associated with white clothing and blonde hair, whilst a fiery temperament and evil intentions are linked with red clothing and black hair.

“In my series I play with the clichés of good and evil. In my vision innocence also carries a weapon. It is no longer possible to identify one, and not the other,” the artist told GoSee.

Born in 1974, Rostock, Germany he studied painting at the Kunsthochschule Kassel between 1996 and 2000. In 1998 he was presented with the Robert-Völker award by the Kunsthochschule Kassel. He later graduated as Professor W. Petrick’s master student in 2002, from the University of the Arts, Berlin. Philipp Weber now lives and works in Kassel and Berlin.
