Fascinated by the lives of others. Leonie Hampton presents 'Anger, Tenderness and Joy' at the Kahmann Gallery, Amsterdam

The invisible and apparently still very strong chains that exist in the world – the family ties, fascinate Leonie Hampton (born Purchas).

After observing her family with her camera, just like an invisible visitor in her book 'Shadow of Things' (published in May 2010), she immersed herself in the lives of complete strangers for her most recent exhibition.

Rome, London, Cuba, Los Angeles or France – she documented 'little nothings' in all of these places, the little nothings that might very well be the essence of our lives.

The exhibition at the Kahmann Gallery consists of 21 photographs from the following series: 'In the Shadow of things', 'Divided Lives, the Villamil Family' and 'Autonomy, the Cariou Family'.
