Simone Nieweg. The Nature of Humankind. Landscape photography. Exhibition. Book.

Simone Nieweg creates images of fields, forests, gardens to such a tender degree of compositional diligence (focus, colour design etc.) that her works have a distinct and unique character.

She is particularly fascinated by the interplay of nature and human culture. How do people use nature, how do they design nature and how do they alienate nature from its original intent? Hence, their pictures combine beauty, documentary precision and criticism.

Her art is infused by her life in Germany’s NRW region, her encounters with kitchen gardens and fields. Her childhood and youth has left a lasting impression on her artistic consciousness.

A hardback book, published by the Schirmer/Mosel Verlag, with a text by Heinz Liesbrock (160 pages, 100 coloured pages), accompanies the exhibition. Price: 49,80 Euro.

Simone Nieweg was born in 1962 in Bielefeld. She studied photography at the Düsseldorf Kunstakademie under Bernd Becker. She is an internationally famous landscape photographer in Germany, but also in France and the USA.
