Alpenrose : a slightly different photo book of the Alpine world - without any kitsch!
Alpenrose is the name of a heather plant, Alpenrose is also the name of a children’s hotel, a ski club and is now also the title of a book by Maximilian Haidacher and Magdalena Fischer.
The two young photographers intensely focus on the Salzburg surroundings and capture everyday fleeting moments in almost melancholic images.
Summer 2009 provided the two Linz-born photographers with an inspiring setting and their Photography and Graphic Design courses geared them up with the necessary know-how. The photo book doesn’t present amateur tourist snaps – according to the duo, the images are perspectives of participators, rather than observers.
The project’s protagonists are trees, valleys, alpine huts and the vastness of the mountains. It comes as a matter of course that a yellow water slide slips into the frame, as does a rabbit that is ‘resting’ under a car. It is the landscape of a kitschy homeland film, captured in a very unkitschy way.
The book is currently only available by email order. The edition is limited to 50 and each publication is signed. An innocent and beautiful piece of the Alps.
