Gallery Hanahou, New York presents Lisa Grue : Owls Have More Fun - or owls don't howl with wolves !
According to Lisa Grue, owls have more fun. And indeed, they do have the freedom to do as they please: they count as both lucky and unlucky omens, as incredibly wise and they are the honorary mascots of nature reserves. The Danish artist has declared them as her central motif and presents all the other things owls can also be in her exhibition.
In the solo show, Gallery Hanahou presents large format nature and owl illustrations on bespoke wallpaper hand printed porcelain plates, an elaborately designed carpet and many more details, which reflect the artist’s may fantastic ideas.
In the exhibits, owls and flowers are combined as beauty and wisdom can and should be. We are abstractly reminded of the abundance of nature and how important it is to keep protecting it from harm.
To celebrate the exhibition, the gallery has set up a Flickr Group for owl lovers to share their own owl creations. We are looking forward to viewing the numerous additions and the private view on 25 February in New York.
Lisa Grue is well known for her playful and sometimes shocking illustrations. Having graduated from Design School in Denamrj, she initiated the Underwerket creative platform, where she offers ‘visionary design solutions’. The Danish National Art Foundation recently named her one of the new talents of the country.
