... Vania Zouravliovs book out now
Vania Zouravliov’s pictures are connected by elements of Russian masters and modern Japanese Visual Culture. The young Russian creates an intense, emotional universe full of innocence, brutality, beauty and decay.
The sketches collected in this book depict pretty, delicate women and girls in interesting situations. The slightly nostalgic, yet powerful mood of the work may be related to the artist’s Russian roots. It is explicitly set through Russian silent movies, Arthouse productions, as well as splatter and zombie movies.
The son of a painter and an art teacher, he began drawing when he was four years old. Vania soon became treated as a Wunderkind and starred in various TV shows. At the age of 13, he began exhibiting his work on an international scale. Having graduated from Edinburgh College of Art, he moved to London in 2000.
