Mario Wagner : exhibitions in Los Angeles and Hamburg

New work by the artist and illustrator will go on show at the Cerasoli Gallery, Los Angeles from 14 June. The artist’s solo exhibition, titled 'Lost Art Of Murder' will be open at the American galley until 5 July. Those of us that are more European based, will however be pleased to note that Mario’s collages will also be on show at the Galerie Feinkunst, Hamburg until 28.06.2008.

Mario graduated from Aachen and has worked as an artist and illustrator in Cologne since then. His paper montages and acrylic work are up to 2 metres in size and range from modern techniques to Dadaist inspired photo collages. Despite his analogue production process, which implements newspaper clippings, glue and acrylics, his work has a surprisingly fresh and exciting aspect to it.

Mario Wagner has created his own, mysterious universe which frequently incorporates fragments of popular culture, as well as architectural and industrial elements. His collages are dominated by human figures that are encompassed by a hallucinatory energy.

He has worked for magazines such as Playboy, Vanity Fair, Esquire, BOOKLET and The New York Times magazine. In addition to this, Mario also created the look of the keyvisuals for the GoSee 2.0 re-launch.

We have attached a selection of work that was realized for The Advocate, Cheerios, Unlimited Magazine, Budget Travel Magazine and the Teen Glow Magazine. Mario also illustrated a portrait of Willy Brandt for the German edition of Vice magazine, presented here.
