We love Hair - a declaration of love to all creative heads; celebrating 111 years of Schwarzkopf
Schwarzkopf are celebrating their 111th anniversary with a detailed exploration of the subject of hair. The ‘We Love Hair’ book sees an array of international star photographers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Russell James and GABO focus their lenses on the probably most variable part of the body: the hair on our heads. Furthermore, the book provides texts, facts, as well as informative and entertaining stories on hair – glamorous and of an editorial quality.
‘We first came up with the idea to create something special to celebrate the 111th anniversary of Schwarzkopf : a book on hair! However, we didn’t want to look back and celebrate all our successes, we wanted to look to the future and dedicate ourselves to a subject which is so close to our hearts,’ explains Tina Müller, Schwarzkopf Corporate Senior Vice President.
‘We Love Hair’ aims to underline the fact that Schwarzkopf represents quality, as well as modernity and innovation and is constantly breaking new ground – in this case far away from the usual trodden cosmetics path.
The Henkel-owned brand reaches annual turnovers of 1.7 billion Euro and has been Germany’s number one hair cosmetics range in the coloration, styling and care markets for decades. In the first half of 2009, the brand’s share in the market had grown to become Europe’s fastest growing hair care brand.
The ‘We Love Hair’ Schwarzkopf book presents an all-encompassing overview of the subject of hair. This is optically achieved through photo spreads by fashion icons such as Karl Lagerfeld, who presents his own personal interpretation of ‘German hair’. Roxanne Lowit grants the viewer a glimpse into the glamorous visions of international hair stylists behind the scenes of haute couture shows. Russell James lets the beauty of nature inspire him and realises a sensual homage to femininity. In “Morning Stars”, Star photographer GABO shows celebrities such as Veronica Ferres, Eva Padberg, Natalia Wörner and Alexandra Maria Lara in a very personal moment. Their look: ‘just out of bed’.
In the second part of the book, international authors, celebrities and designers make their voices heard. Jan Weiler remembers his childhood with Schauma, while Nick Hornby tells of life before and after going bald and Roger Moore reveals hairstyling secrets of the Bond ‘Blonde’ Girls...
Leconte explains why he deems women with short hair so appealing. Stories revolving around hair, that are as exciting, witty and deeply personal as it gets. The book closes with international hairstyle trends by hair expert Armin Morbach for Schwarzkopf and Global Ambassador Tom Kroboth for Schwarzkopf Professional – visionary and inspiring..
The most beautiful motifs will be on show again after the Design Forum in NRW from the 11th of December to the 17th of January 2010 at the C/O Berlin.
