8. International Fashion Photography Festival in Cannes : star guest Jaques Olivar and 90 photographers in large format at the Cote d'Azur

In its eighth year, the International Fashion Photography Festival Cannes invited Cassablanca-born Jaques Olivar, who originally started his career as a pilot, as their star guest.

In addition to his works, fashion photos by 90 photographers are on show in the industrious city, on the Croisette at the Palm Beach Casino, Port Canto Palm Tree Garden and the popular Rue d'Anitibes.

Tourists and creative visitors to the Cannes Lions can now admire the large format motifs around the clock.

The 2010 jury included Art Director Olivier BENSIMON, Art Director Fred RAWYLER, Director of the European House of Photography in Paris Jean-Luc MONTEROSSO and Photo Magazine Editor Eric COLMET DAAGE.

In her fourth year at the award, GoSee Member ANJA FRERS enthuses:

"It is nice to see photography outside of the gallery space, the support is very loving, you get to meet a lot of colleagues, it is very familial, in addition to champagne, hotel stay, food and a private beach, the event organisers - the Partouche family, invite you to everything.

A very special event where the loveable family’s passion for photography is highly evident.”

Three awards are presented – the criteria are creativity, imagination and longevity of the work, in the sense of leaving a lasting impression on the viewer, thus transporting a personal vision to the people’s minds and hearts through the critical eye.

The winner of the 2010 Fashion Photography Special Prize is Justine and the 2010 Young Talent Fashion Photography Prize was awarded to Perla Maarek who lives and works in France.

Contarsy & Karecha were presented with 2010’s new Beauty prize for their RODRIGO ORTAZU campaign (GoSee reported).

All 90 motifs are display until 25 August.
