ADC : The show must go on

ADC competition – at long last, the celebrations could commence: 2,000 guests applauded the winners of this year’s ADC awards. And they had good reason to: after decades, the jury presented another Grand Prix award. 21 golden, 67 silver and 120 bronze nails were awarded in total.

In addition to this a further 272 works were awarded a distinction. “Horst Schlämmer” was one of the lovely heroes that was on the tip of everyone’s tongue that evening. The alter ego of German comedian Hape Kerkeling is the protagonist of a Volkswagen communication campaign. The idea of accompanying the TV star on the road trials with a camera, was carried out perfectly. The campaign “Driving Lessons with Horst Schlämmer” was presented with a total of seven gold awards, including the category TV ad and the crowning glory category of “Integrated Campaign”, in addition to four silver, two bronze and other awards. The campaign was developed by the DDB agency of Berlin.

The fashionable evening progressed following the lectures held by Karl Lagerfeld and Michael Michalsky on Friday and Saturday afternoon (ADC Congress). The “Gorbatchov” Louis Vuitton image was awarded bronze in the print campaign category and it was also awarded a distinction in the photography section.

The ADC Awards Show finale was crowned with a spectacular celebration. “The Power of Wind” was the title of the melancholy, magical film by the Nordpol+ agency of Hamburg which was awarded gold twice on the same night. The film was realized under the assignment of EPURON, with the support of the German Ministry for the Environment, Protection of Nature and Reactor Safety. The creators presented the wind as a kind, lonely hero, that is searching for a path that leads to people’s hearts. The emotional and creative idea impressed everyone that had the pleasure of watching it.

And hence a special action was taken, one which even long term ADC members had forgotten: the jury handed over the ADC Grand Prix prize for “The Power of Wind” to the Nordpol+ Hamburg, Agentur für Kommunikation GmbH agency.
