Art Lawyer Gallery : presents BLATT - the first magazine culture showroom in Hamburg

The media city that is Hamburg will soon be the new home to an international magazines showroom. On 19 November, at Königstraße 16 (Hamburg-Altona), the first showroom and media salon for magazine culture: “blatt” will present hundreds of international magazines and fanzines – on art, design, fashion, architecture, urbanism, photography, illustration, activism, comics and music. 

The pilot project in the new Art Lawyer Gallery space was developed and designed by GuteSeiten – curated kiosk & magazine club, the  gebrauchsgrafikundso agency and architect Jana Deters.

The private view will take place on Thursday, 19 November, from 7pm with the 1st Hamburger Magazine marathon. The editors of Dare, Gudberg, Hoffnung, Nicht Jetzt, Kultur & Gespenster, SpaceMag, Spring and Supra will all be present to mark the occasion.

Following the private view, new magazine concepts, innovative zine makers and inspiring print projects will be presented every Thursday. Here is a more detailed overview of the programme:

Thursday, 26 November, 8pm:
“Hamburg collects Hamburg”: New magazine concepts and the “Panini”-Scoop. With: Oliver Wurm, Chefredakteur Feld Hommes, Dozent Hamburg Media School, Chesley Medienproduktion

Thursday, 3 December, 8pm:
How does the magazine reach the reader in 2010? Trends and new distribution strategies. With: Stephan Busse, DPV Network/Gruner + Jahr

Thursday, 10 December, 8pm:
From internet pioneer to zine maker: Editor in Chief Vijay Sapre on his Effilee – Magazine for Food and Life project
