Cologne Contemporaries - art for us .... Cologne strikes back, young and innocent!

Cologne is a village. A village bustling with art. After surviving the ‘Museums Late at Night' event and the crowds of exhibits and visitors it attracted, we were pleased to hear of a more contemporary and stress free approach.

Eleven young galleries and two project spaces have joined forces and will be showing Cologne Contemporaries next weekend. Be there or be square!

The tour will take you through the Belgian quarter and the Severins quarter, to Mediapark in the North and the Agnes quarter, on Friday from 6pm to 9pm. From 11pm onwards, you can indulge yourself at the after show party at Hallmackenreuther, Brüsseler Platz, open end of course. On Saturday, there will be a lot of time (12pm to 8pm) to visit the galleries. 8pm will see a get together of the participating galleries and artists at the Marsil. Everyone is welcome to join the party from 10pm onwards.

The eleven galleries and two project spaces have only opened within the last five years and are still young and innocent so to speak. The galleries are:

Clages, Galerie Desaga, Drei, Galerie Julia Garnatz, Krupic Kersting Galerie//kuk, Galerie Christian Lethert, Marion Scharmann, Schmidt & Handrup, Teapot, Galerie Warhus Rittershaus, Galerie Eva Winkeler, Jagla Ausstellungsraum and Zero Fold.

A free publication will be available on the night and will feature each gallery’s schedule and guest articles from the Benelux countries. The magazine will be available at all participating galleries and institutions, but limited edition – obviously!
