EPITHELIAL ART, JAPAN & VIOLETA : three series by Sandra de Keller at Westlicht, a selection of works here on GoSee
WestLicht. Schauplatz für Fotografie is pleased to present the first solo exhibition of Sandra de Keller, a young and ambitious Leica photographer.
The three exhibited series offer a good glimpse into the work of the career changer who is yet to become well known, but already demonstrates an intense and sensitive photographic eye.
The concept of ‘EPITHELIAL ART’ was born in a Japanese mountain village. To Sandra, the huts and walls emit the aura of an abstract piece of art created by time itself.
The photographs, which were taken for the “JAPAN” series form a visual diary, memories of the mystical Japanese culture of bygone days.
‘VIOLETA’ is the self-staged, melancholic story of a young art student, who lives on the island of Ibiza and puts on her deceased mother's ballerina costume, in order to undertake an imaginary journey in it.
Sandra about her beginnings: “For me it all began in 2007 in Singapore. It was a Leica M6. I saw it in a shopping window on the main street and have been addicted to the analogue temptation ever since. I fell in love with photography in an instant, and its unrivalled ability to catch a moment and hold on to it. I lost my heart to both: The perfection and imperfection of the instant.”
Sandra's works will be on Show at Westphalia for three days only – but for a considerably longer time here on GoSee.
