Esther Perbandt presents fashion and art, this time with artist Marco Pho Grassi
Owing to the tight schedule at Berlin Fashion Week, some may have missed Esther Perbandt’s show, which was fully booked anyway. We did not miss it of course. Once again, we enjoyed a production ripe with fashion and art – fused together beautifully, rather than haphazardly thrown together.
The presentation of the Autumn/Winter collection started with birdsong and jungle sound. Behind a smeared glass wall, Italian artist Marco Pho Grassi scraped, wiped and painted patterns on the glass, providing a complimentary eye-catcher.
The designs were infused with tie-dye and were full of contrast, cuts were simple and often teamed with baggy tops, the materials were soft and sometimes very woolly. The print on a t-shirt may have read 'I am not a muse' but we certainly felt inspired.
A particular piece of eye candy was the amazing low cut backs – mature, elegant, feminine and most definitely, for the woman who turns a head without so much as the bat of an eyelid.
Accentuating and very apt to the powerful collection in an appropriate feminist manner, the ladies' heads were adorned with hairpieces by Bergmann. Isolde Pisot and Marion Garz alias Piso+Garz took care of the proper cut à la Perbandt.
KATRIN Wespel c/o VIVASTYLE and Anna Mosbruck were responsible for the make-up. Look out: a menswear collection was presented for the first time, initially created from Esther's designs for her male co-workers.
The after show party was held at the Envy Bar at the trendy NHOW Hotel. We could share a bit of gossip, but that would be telling, now wouldn’t it. Let’s just say the abundance of cocktails rounded off the event nicely.
