GoSee Tip : Sandpeople by Andreas Waldschütz. A fashion production in the Namibian ghost town of Kolmanskop

A ghost town in Namibia served as the backdrop for an unconventional fashion & photography project. Andreas Waldschütz will present his multimedia project Sand People for the first time at 10festivals for Fashion & Photography.

The photographer created the concept in collaboration with art director Adia Trischler: “I wanted to do something completely new, use new fashion, new faces and find a totally crazy stage for all of it.”, so Wiener. He found it alright, in the abandoned city of Kolmanskop, a former settlement in German-Southwest Africa, once the El Dorado of diamond hunters.

Andreas Waldschütz produced a fashion series with up-and-coming model Carmen Solomons, hairstylist Patrick Glatthaar and make-up artist Stefanie Lamm, which will go on to be exhibited in New York, London and Berlin, following its stint in Vienna. Models Carmen & Jeremy – Bossmodels.

The series was decorated with pieces by designer Una Burke and Ara Jo, who already impressed with their stage wardrobe for Lady Gaga. One more designer is Fflur Owens, a graduate of the famous St. Martin College in London, as well as George Bezhanishvili

The large format photographs are complemented with film sequences as well. “We made the film to support the photo series, but also to find another, self-contained channel for the story”, says Waldschütz. The trailer for the film can be viewed here.

It was during his preparation work for Sand People, that Andreas Waldschütz was commissioned by London design portal Not Just a Label to produce the campaign for the new fashion line. This time, Claudia Schiffer and Courtney Love will pose for Waldschütz in London this summer.
