Made in Cologne - Cologne's brands for the world. Exhibition at Cologne's City Museum
Cologne is not only the city with the cathedral, carnival and media outlets, but also the place where international brands are developed, produced and advertised.
Some of which are long gone and vanished in the tome of forgotten memories. Many are still holding their own on the global market – such as Ford, Kölnisch Wasser or Stollwerck-chocolate.
Some, like cigarette brand Overstolz had once been icons of advertising in the 1950s and others like Afri-Cola gained a cult following in the 1960s. The exhibition presents typical Cologne brands, the history of the companies in question and the associated advertising campaigns and historic ad films which once carried the name of Cologne out into the world.
The special exhibition by the Kölnischen Stadtmuseums in der Alten Wache is organised in cooperation with the Rheinisch-Westfälischen Economic Archive.
