Mikael Kennedy's "Shoot the Moon" - the eternal love of the Polaroid. 500 images in an exhibition in New York ...
Mikael Kennedy didn’t have anything. Not even a plan. And yet that was his exact plan. He invested every cent, which he mainly made by regularly donating blood, in Polaroid film to eventually run away with them.
He travelled through New England, Massachusetts, Washington, Portland, Oregon flew to Serbia and returned to New York, with thousands of Polaroids in tow. Peter Hay Halpert Fine Art now presents 500 of these in the legendary Chelsea Hotel.
His images depict friends, family and finds, as if they were photographed through a milk bottle. They come across as incredibly personal, often almost intimate, they capture life and truth. And indirectly the artist himself.
‘Shoot the Moon’ is Kennedy‘s first solo exhibition. His love of Polaroid photography challenges the extinction of the instant photography technique and follows in the footsteps of several artists such as Andy Warhol and David Hockney, who created important pieces using this process.
As collectors are encouraged to directly take their purchased exhibits home with them, the exhibition will see a constant change and development throughout its own process. So, those that wish to see as many pictures as possible should get a move on!
