Proud Gallery, London: Johnny Cash - A Definitive Portrait

Proud Central presents Johnny Cash, aka The Man in Black. The exhibition shows a multitude of unpublished images shot by photographers that were close to him. Five years after he passed away, this retrospective documents Cash’s entire career, from the early years that were dedicated to touring, through to his later years.

The exhibition includes motifs by deceased photographers Marvin Koner and Leigh Wiene, and pictures by Danny Clinch, Paul Natkin, as well as Andy Earl. Koner, former Art Director of Harper’s Bazaar, documented a lot of famous moments in his career. These portraits will be exclusively premiered at Proud and show the sensitive side of music legend Johnny Cash.

The Proud Galleries Group was founded by Alex Proud in 1998 with the aim of taking high quality photography to a larger market. The concept of holding exhibitions on popular themes such as music, fashion, sport and film was a direct success. Each exhibition draws in about 10,000 visitors, and the programme has already included such illustrious themes and names as: ‘Destroy: The Sex Pistols’, ‘Rankin’s Nudes’, ‘The Rock n Roll Years’, ‘Underexposed’, ‘Rebel Life: Bob Marley’, ‘The Official Bob Dylan Show’, ....
