Pulp Art Book : Neil Krug presents supermodel Joni Harbeck in uninhibited Polaroid shots - exclusive book premiere at the Zimmermann & Heitmann Gallery, Düsseldorf
Neil and Joni are playing Indians. Why is that interesting? Because Neil is a photographer and Joni is a supermodel and the two of them have published a new book : the Pulp Art Book.
Neil Krug teamed up with his muse Joni Harbeck, the results were 200 pages of pure inspiration. Most of the pictures were shot using a Polaroid camera and recall the faded, grainy look of the 60s and 70s.
The washed out motifs are in keeping with the tradition of old film posters and magazines. Neil photographed Bonny & Clyde-style scenarios, as well as looks that wouldn’t be out of place in a Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western. The only difference being that Joni prefers a more skimpy outfit and provides the pictures with that extra bang.
The two of them uploaded the images to Flickr – and were swamped with attention and compliments : “I really never received this much feedback on my work before,” says Neil, who has created music videos for Ladytron and Ratatat. In his spare time he is currently working on a film titled "Invisible Pyramid"– we can’t wait to see it!
The Zimmermann & Heitmann Gallery, Düsseldorf exclusively presents the Pulp Art Book at its 130th anniversary in October. Joni and Neil will of course be attending their European premiere by the River Rhine. Here’s us hoping for a strip stop in Cologne.
View the trailer teaser and details of the premiere on the gallery’s website.
