AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL brings light into the darkness - powerful web special on the subject of torture

Saatchi & Saatchi produced the attached ad for AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL, which has been nominated at the VDW for Cross Media & Best Use of Media.

The spot may not be the newest out there – but its concept is so strong, that we are happy to present it here on GoSee. The Amnesty International logo is a candle wrapped in barbed wire. It was created by English artist Diana Redhouse, who was inspired by the old saying: “It is better to light a candle than to complain about the darkness”.

However, to fully understand the spot, you need to have a webcam to hand. GoSee presents the accompanying explanatory spot for anyone that doesn’t have one to hand right now.

Amnesty International was founded in 1961 in London by English lawyer Peter Benenson. The German section of Amnesty International was founded two months later by Gerd Ruge, Carola Stern and Felix Rexhausen in Cologne and was the first section to be officially recognised.

Apart from the VDW nomination, the web special has been awarded the following awards: Epica Silver, London International Bronze Award, Onlinestar Bronze Award, DOPE Award, Designlicks Site of the Day, Webdesign Award . . .

CDs were Sebastian Schier and Peter Huschka, sound by Studio Funk, picture by Studio B12.
