Ausreichend (adequate). Isabel Prahl's 30-minute short premiere at the Kölnischen Kunstverein, after party at the marsil

The director Isabel Prahl presented her graduation film 'Ausreichend', hence finishing her studies at the Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln.

Her first 30-minute production is a narration in tranquil imagery and tells the bleak story of a young student teacher that is eager to become a good teacher. However, his ideals are soon put to the test the hard way. The director skilfully blends different spheres of media – literature meets reality. Gestures quickly become ambiguous and merciless reality is but a thin coat of varnish that hasn’t dried yet. Emotions make their way into the game, interpreted during the classes and misunderstood again during the break in between classes – all of a sudden, there seems to be no way out any more and the drama unfolds – just like a schoolbook . . .

The film debuted during the Hofer Filmtage and was later screened for a private viewing with the team and friends at the Kölnischen Kunstverein in Cologne. The guests honoured the film, the team and the director with standing ovations – and we secretly rejoiced that we had left school behind us a long time ago.

Naturally, the beautiful 1960s cinema was equipped with a stylish red carpet, graced by the likes of Mariele Millowitsch, who plays the ruthless headmistress. Other celebrities spotted included Elke Heidenreich and national football player Silvia Neid. The after party with finger food, drinks, projections and the aforementioned VIPs took place at the Marsil, just around the corner.

The young director already stirred up the film circles during the 'Young Director Award' last year in Cannes as well as the VDW award (today: Deutscher Werbefilmpreis). Her first piece ‘Armut kennt viele Gesichter’ won a wide range of awards (as reported by GoSee).
