Christian Brecheis : making-of the road trip for FIAT Freestyle Team and HEAD Snowboards

Following the Olympics, half pipe snowboard enjoyed a higher degree of attention mainly due to its athletic progressiveness and the risky tricks that come with it.

Christian Brecheis and his team joined snowboarder Christophe Schmidt who recently travelled to Turin and Vancouver for Germany to photograph half pipe snowboarding in a fun way, capturing it as we like to see it – beyond tricks and judges’ scorecards.

The journey lasted a whole week and led the crew through several states, to the best pipes in the US. The route: Northstar at Tahoe, Park City and Mammoth. The challenge involved tackling a distance of 3,000 kilometres.

“Many hours and kilometres were left behind on the road. We jetted all over California, Utah and Nevada. On the other hand, we enjoyed many very good sessions on the best pipes the States have to offer in a short period pf time. Besides, the car journeys during the day, taking us through deserts and past ever-changing landscapes and salt lakes are an experience in themselves”, says the photographer.

Christian worked for a cooperative project between FIAT, the sponsor of the Snowboard freestyle team and HEAD snowboards, who asked him to produce motifs for their adverts. We have attached the visually impressive results, which are just as fascinating as the making-of.
