DBC - Driven by Creatives : treats us to JOHNNIE WALKER – or perhaps an alcohol free indulgence with AFTER EIGHT ?

‘Where flavour is king’ – is the Johnnie Walker slogan. It is of course a given that people who have good taste, also value good packaging. So it comes as no surprise then that the new spot resembles a Shakespeare feature film production. Colour, ambience, characters, locations, lighting …. All polished to the greatest detail. Beauty is a matter of lighting and distance. Thanks go to DOP Martin RUHE c/o DBC.

This particular whisky originally started out as Walker's Kilmarnock Whisky, which John ‘Johnnie’ Walker sold in his grocer's shop in Ayrshire, Scotland. In 1857, after John’s death, Alexander took over and launched the first blend on the market in 1865. FYI: up until 1860 is was strictly prohibited to blend whisky.

Today the Scottish whisky belongs to Diageo and with 130 million bottles worldwide it is the most widespread Scottish blend and sold almost everywhere.

The second spot is likewise dedicated to indulgence: AFTER EIGHT, a brand that has become synonymous with British deserts. Not quite as old as the whisky - After Eight was ‘invented’ in 1962 by Rowntree and Company Limited – but the taste is surely more unique in its unmistakable blend of mint and chocolate. Today the bite the Nestlé Group owns the bite sized Brits, which can even be used as Amuse-Gueule.

Robin POLAK directed the spot and was joined on set by DOP Frank LAMM, both c/o DBC - DRIVEN BY CREATIVES.
