GoSee loves ISSEVER BAHRI. Klaus Nomi meets Isadora Duncan. The avant-garde emotional moving image study of the Berlin based fashion label’s new collection

The latest ISSEVER BAHRI fashion film resembles a dance homage to Klaus Nomi and American expressive dancer Isadora Duncan. Director Thomas Sabel and art director Mody Al Khufash alias MOTHOM teamed up with 1st UNIT DOP Ralf NOACK to capture the latest creations by designers Derya Issever & Cimen Bachri in front of the architecturally impressive backdrop of the Haus der Kulturen der Welt building in Berlin.

They were inspired by the philosophy of dancer and choreographer Isadora Duncan (1877 in San Francisco, 1927 in Nice), who left classic ballet at an early stage to become a pioneer of expressive dance. The American performer referenced the Greek beauty ideal and interpreted classic concert music with the help of avant-garde dance.

The location was the Haus der Kulturen in Berlin and the wonderfully talented Nele Hermann wore the designs. Hair and Make-up Artist Stefan Kehl perfected the hair and Line Producer Anna Honerlagen was also on set. The choreography is by Laurie Young originally from Canada, now based in Berlin and working for Sasha Waltz.

The fact that the film features both classic architecture as well as a classis sports car is another reference to the legendary choreographer. Her red scarf got caught in the wheels of her car during a hatchback tour through Nice and she died on the scene of the accident aged 50.

In July 2010 ISSEVER BAHRI debuted with their S/S 2011 Collection at the Premium Exhibitions fashion fair in Berlin, where they were presented with the Young Designers Award. Their third collections secured them second prize at the Start Your Fashion Business Award in July 2011. Today their fashion is featured in editorials for magazines including MADAME, VOGUE, WWD JAPAN GRAZIA, ELLE and INTERVIEW.
