London's Fashion Darling Designer Ziad Ghanem : the dark beauty of a birdsong envelopes winter - and the GoSee team at his A/W 2011 Collection in words, photos and film

The Ziad Ghanem A/W 2011 brainstorm: fetish, extravaganza, drag queens, elegance, tattoos, gothic, joker, ballet, passion, individuality, show. No room for thinking inside the box.

The birds on the dresses sang to Boy George in the front row at London Fetish Week – cult couturist Ziad fascinated the press and public with a show that flowed like hot wax and black silk.

The show kicked off with a sombre Phoenix rising form the ashes, an extra long dress, which brining its wearer closer to the skies, sapphire coloured feather fans, moving like the wings of an eagle.

The rustle of the undulating men’s capes and drainpipe jeans announced the advent of winter in whispers. Women flew by in clouds of chiffon, floated on ballet shoes and plaform high heels.

A shimmering red dress wrapped its wearer up in a body conscious look, so tight that her feet could only take the smallest of steps at a time – the appropriate eye make-up reflects both power and fear. An emotional rollercoaster.

If you have ever seen a Ziad Ghanem show, you know the worlds the designer is capable of merging and conjuring up. Just in case you have never had the incredible experience of indulging in the Ziad spectacle, GoSee presents a short video.

"Ziad Ghanem excelled himself; there was not one person in the room who did not gasp throughout the show" – exclaims Louisa Kilburn, The Fashion Scout.

We at GoSee are absolutely convinced, that Ziad once again proved that is does not take a whole week to showcase what fashion is all about, one show can hand down the world to us. A world, in which there is ample room for birds of paradise, dreamers and visionaries – as well as fashion editors lusting for colour and glorious decadence.

It is a true mystery that Ziad and director genius Tim Burton are yet to engage into a creative tango. Maybe Helena Bonham-Carter would be able to mediate? The exceptional actress who is currently portraying the Queen Mum in ‘The King’s Speech’, would be the perfect match for all his unique outfits.
