Save our Oceans - Uli Henrik Streckenbach's lovely animation short on GoSee
The state of our oceans is in danger. The marine life has declined by 90% since the advent of industrial fishing. Scientists warn of the complete extinction of all commercially used fish species within the next 50 years.
Since public awareness of the dire situation is limited, Uli Henrik Streckenbach produced an animated short that seeks to spread the word about the shocking facts and statistics and raise awareness of the issue.
The animation is completed with a text that is read by Hilmar Eichhorn – actor at the Neuen Theater in Halle. Through this clever combination, lots of information can be presented in a compact and interesting way.
The animated short 'Die Überfischung der Meere' (the over-fishing of the seas) is Uli Henrik Streckenbach’s degree project, a multimedia/VR design student at Burg Giebichenstein - Kunsthochschule Halle.
Uli on his own short: “For this project, I tried not to point the finger all the time but through a mere visualisation of the statistics and its associated facts, create general awareness of the topic.”
Uli Henrik Streckenbach, born on the 3rd of August in 1985 in Eurin, Kreisstadt des Kreises Ostholstein im Osten Schleswig-Holsteins was awarded the following prizes (among others): ADC Gold medal 2011 for Live Log, an interactive way of visualising data, Annual Multimedia 2011 for Live Log and Annual Multimedia 2010 for ARGUI, a Augmented Reality telescope.
