Slanted #7 – Geometrics.Porn - the latest issue is out now

The »Geometrics« issue is devoted to typography and designs, which use basic geometric forms such as a circle, square or triangle as their foundation. This theme is explored in the first section in portraits, type essays and photo series.

The Fonts & Fontlabels, Fontnames Illustrated and Typolyrics sections present contemporary fonts and their designers. Contributors include Emil Kozak, Non-Format, Dan Reynolds, Florian Walzel, Ian Moore, Taro Hirano, Dirk Altenkirch and many more.

The second section offers interviews with Ed Benguiat, John Collins and Jan Middendorp, geo pieces (including ones by Hort, Benoit Lemoine, Labour, Mind Design), as well as the college place feature (graduation pieces by students).

The magazine’s third part deals with the internet blog www.slanted.de. Features include much discussed entries or an archive of blog introductions to fonts, books and magazines. In addition to this, book/magazine shops ‘do you read me?!’ and ‘Soda’ present their latest fave publications.

Slanted #7 presents several new improvements: this year, Hubert Jocham, type designer, will be designing an exclusive headline font for each issue, which is inspired by the issue’s theme, and is available for the readers to download free of charge. 

NeoPop S7 is the first font in the series, in »Geometrics« it can be admired on the envelope. Each volume is enveloped by a folded poster. At the end of the year, a series would have been created which spells out a 4 word sentence. This is where the PORN comes into play. 

PORN is the first word of the ominous sentence – an explanation : the magazine makers recognise a visual lust within their incredibly visual and voyeur enticing geometric material.

The first issue has just been published to coincide with the Colophon 2009 in Luxemburg: Slanted #7 – »Geometrics.Porn.«.
