KME Studios : idyllic at MALOJA 'Alp Appeal' catalogue shoot and adventurous GHOST Bike catalogue production
The MALOJA’s upcoming S/S 2011 ‘Alp Appeal’ collection is unmistakably inspired alpine culture. So are the motifs that Michael MÜLLER produced for his eleventh consecutive MALOJA catalogue.
A coverage of traditional Austrian loden fabric production as well as a portrait of the two-time ice climbing world champion Markus Bendler led him to the Steiermark area first, where he was allowed to accompany the extreme athlete into his ‘torture chamber’, as well as the famous climbing region Schleierfall.
Subsequently, the team and equipment travelled via Tessin, to Zurich, Munich, the Dolomites and finally to Saalbach Hinterglemm. For the first time ever and in cooperation with the Melville brand design agency, new ground was broken for the catalogue's graphical design.
In July, Michael photographed the images for the 2011 GHOST catalogue. Ghost is one of the most successful bicycle manufacturers in Germany. The initial phase of the production was concerned with pictures of GHOST's ‘ATG pro Team’ for the Down Hill category in Southern Tirol (including autographs for the whole team!)
Things took a dynamic and extremely fast turn for the shoot of the 4x and dirt motif at the Bikepark Leogang, in the heart of the Salzburg region. Due to an injury, course designer and seasoned world cup racer Guido Tschugg could only accompany the production and was unable to take the plunge himself.
Last but not least on the list were the mountain bikes, racing bicycles and trekking bikes – off to Kitzbühel. The result: Three intense days of production, a great range of photos and lots of fun.
A novelty at KME: For the first time, Michael MÜLLER was accompanied by a cameraman for this production, who filmed on set parallel to the catalogue motifs. An excerpt of the film can be seen on the KME-Webseite.
