Maik Scharfscheer : fashionable boxing battle for LEICA S2 and exhibition at the Leica Gallery in Solms

The Malecon coastal promenade in Havana served as the breathtaking backdrop for the new LEICA image motifs. The photographs were realised by Maik Scharfscheer and will be used for the market introduction of the new LEICA S2 camera system.

Boxing was the creative inspiration behind the fashion shoot. FYI – boxing is Cuba’s national sport and the Caribbean island is the world champion of amateur boxing. The Cuban passion and enthusiasm for boxing is unique in its authenticity and liveliness.

An original boxing ring, flanked by a metre high scaffold, was set up for the shoot by the Malecon, near Castillo de San Salvador. This contributed to the perfect setting of a fashion battle, which saw a model go from outfit strength to strength, and come out as a heroic protagonist by the end of it.

The images are currently on display at the Leica Gallery in Solms. Maik Scharfscheer also shot the LEICA M9 campaign in Havana. Stayed tuned for more details soon on GoSee.
