Gunda Patzke : PLASTIQUE, TOYGIANTS, ...

Karin BERNDL and team worked on a production for PLASTIQUE Magazine. Make-up artist Emma Miles and Londoner celebrity model Daisy Lowe were also on set. Model Daisy Lowe was shocked to discover that her godfather - Bush singer and actor Gavin Rossdale – was actually her father (making Gwen Stefani her stepmother!). Daisy's mother, Pearl Lowe, had said that her daughter was the result of a holiday fling. However, Pearl reportedly ordered DNA tests to clarify exactly who the father was, as Daisy was about to turn 16. They confirmed that Rossdale was Daisy's father!

Daniel & Geo FUCHS' new book *Toygiants* has just been published with the Moderne Kunst publishers in Nürnberg. The toygiants photo series was mainly inspired through the chancing upon collector Selim Varol and his collection which comprises over ten thousand toy figures.

Mainly manufactured in Asia, the often collector objects are distributed and dealt internationally. Hence *Toys* such as Batman and Bruce Willis, Japanese Manga superstars and designer vinyls as well as miniature Osama Bin Ladens and Hitlers are out there, all over the world. The two artists arranged the figures as portrait shots or in groups, they began experimenting with their own subjects and presented often grotesque yet explosive connections, until the point that the *toys* developed lives of their own – an irritating *Second Life*.

Since 1995 Daniel & Geo Fuchs, has been present at international exhibitions, most recently Miami, New York and Paris. Their work has been awarded on several occasions. Their pictures have been exhibited at the Kiaf Korea, Dphoto San Sebastian, Swab Barcelona and Photo London photography fairs since May.
