Corbis : photo journalism from the past 60 years
Corbis have published a picture book with the finest Photo Journalism the Sygma collection has to offer. It includes renowned images of the past 60 years. Photos of the first days following the Chernobyl reactor catastrophe are just as covered as Jimmy Hendrix live in concert or the infamous brotherly kiss between Erich Honnecker and Leonid Breschnew. The turmoil of war in Lebanon, famous photos of the Vietnam war and the revolution in Iran, politicians, media stars and silent heroes the Sygma collection is a highlight of photography art.
Over 50 million objects, including slides, negatives, prints and contact sheets are included in the archive, which Corbis purchased in 1999 to preserve for the next generations. Now the most famous images have been summarized in a picture book to bring professional picture users closer to the Sygma Archive.
The Sygma Collection book is packed with 226 black and white and colour photographs of the past 60 years.
