Hahnemühle : Fine Art Inkjet Paper with a Bamboo Base
The Hahnemühle paper mill has developed the world's first Fine Art Inkjet Paper made from Bamboo fibre. The naturally white, warm toned paper combines spiritual photography with the idea of being environmentally friendly. Bamboo 290 is made up of the fibres of fast growing Bamboo grass. A part of the retail price shall be donated by Hahnemühle to projects which support the environment.
The 23. paper type of the Hahnemühle Digital FineArt Collection makes the sensual connection between art and paper palpable and apparent. Germany's oldest paper factory (founded 1584), has succeeded in developing a high quality and soft Fine Art Paper from untainted Bamboo fibres and pure source water. It opens new artistic and spiritual dimensions in the world of fine art printing. *Bamboo 290* ensures the usual Hahnemühle high image quality, through a large print colour space, an extreme colour depth and underwriting of light and shade as well as the achievement of good contrasts. The natural basis tone of the paper is predestined for fine art prints which are warm in tone. It is also the first time that Hahnemühle shall support environmentally friendly projects.
They managed to win over renowned artist Justin Guariglia for the launch of the Bamboo Campaign. His internationally popular spiritual pictures of the Shaolin Temple shall appear on the Bamboo-green packaging.
The travelling exhibition *Shaolin Temple of Zen*, organised by the American Aperture Foundation and supported by Hahnemühle, shall travel from 2008 through to 2011, first through the USA and then later in Europe. The first stops in February and March 2008, shall be Los Angeles and then Washington D.C from June to September 2008.
