Hatje Cantz : Beatrice Minda - photographs from Romania

Beatrice Minda (*1968 in Munich) presents photographs from Romania and her exile in a new publication by Hause Hatje Cantz. The former master class student of Katharina Sieverding studied at Berlin's Hochschule der Künste art academy and has been working on a photographic series since 2003. It is dedicated to the questions on a relationship to a home country, exile and identity, the personal and political history of a country.

The images of light-flooded interiors were mainly realized in Romania and mirror the atmosphere of the realms of childhood. Further photographs stem from Paris, Munich and Berlin, that were the preferred destinations of Romanian migrants in the 20. Century. In a third section Beatrice Minda photographed the huts of Romanian wandering workers in the suburbs of Paris so as to create a loving image, a piece of home sweet home in so hostile an environment.
