In the past few years, London-based photographer Venetia Dearden has visited lovely Somerset many a time. The West Country region of Great Britain offers a tempting mixture of picturesque landscapes, sandy beaches that seem to go on forever and an impressive coast.

Venetia’s foible for Somerset and its residences grew over the years. She explored the area and carefully observed the lifestyles of the locals, documenting individuals and families.

The results are intimate views that tell stories, which are well known across the western worlds and reflect contemporary issues: family, society, food production and consumption, as well as an ethical lifestyle.
