Linda Herzog : Mihriban - a love song for Turkey
Between 2004 and 2007, photographer Linda Herzog spent her time in Istanbul. She travelled through Turkey and realized pieces for her Mihriban photo essay whilst doing so. "Mihriban" is a female Turkish name and roughly translates to “dear friend, with a good heart, with a smiling face”. "Mihriban" is also a famous love song in Turkey.
Linda Herzog did not surrender to the tourist traps of the exotic, but captured the differences which unfold to political dimensions. The picture book contains 50 photographs from East Turkey, the Black and Mediterranean Sea coasts, central Anatolia, Istanbul and Izmir. She visited Afyon in the west, as it is one of Turkey’s most conservative towns.
