mare : The Captain’s Dinner special supplement – Eine kulinarisch-fischige Weltreise

The unique and both Christmas and New Years suitable concept ; mare prepares a festive seafood dinner with seven courses from the seven seas. The speciality : mare tells a story about each of the dishes. There are reports from Japan, Israel, Peru, Iceland, Israel and Canada, accompanied by stories and features on the subject of the Captain’s Dinner, the must-do event on board every luxurious cruise ship.

The courses: mare serve a delicious lobster sandwich as their Amuse Gueule – with a report from a far away place in East Canada, the place where the world’s best lobsters live. The starter: scallops and urchin. These gourmet seafood are known to have the best quality when fished from Japan’s coast. This is where healthy old ladies dive to search for the sought after urchins.

The world’s most famous and expensive soup: Bouillabaisse. The prized poor people’s fish soup is inseparably connected to Marseille, and each visitor to the exotic Mediterranean Sea metropolis faces the same problem: where is the city’s best Bouillabaisse served?

The warm starter of the mare Captain’s Dinner is, of course, a fish, a very special one at that: the Tilapia. Found in salty waters, both in sea and inland waters such as the Jordan, and Jesus is said to have served it to the hungry.

The entrée is a national favourite dish, honoured and protected like an Inca treasure: the Ceviche, a delectable meal of raw fish and a whole host of good ingredients.

The main course, the crowning glory of every dinner, is for mare… fried fish, not any just any fish, a fried serving of rosefish.

For dessert, mare selected one of the forgotten pleasures of our childhood: the lickable sweetie shell.
