The Vitra Design Museum has one of the largest collections of modern furniture design, covering all key eras and styles from the beginning of the 19th century to today.

In the second half of the 20th century, Italian design attained worldwide recognition. Milanese photographers Aldo Ballo and Marirosa Toscani Ballo played a considerable part in this success. Their photos captured the beauty and function of the objects, as well as their cultural message and therefore made a significant contribution to the legendary status that still surrounds Italian design today.

‘Zoom’ uses design objects, countless books, magazines, posters and photographs to creae a new image of this era. This exhibition does not just examine legendary design classics of the time, but also looks at how they were interpreted, produced and designed.
