Pool Mag 19 : Calm - the Summer theme

Calm ... everyone seeks it. Especially at a time when we are surrounded by countless noises and *uncalm* moments on a daily basis, the wish for a relaxing calm seems to grow ever stronger. As an ideal matter of principle, it is applied to fashion, design, photography and lifestyle culture. The idea that less (of a racket) can often be more is explored and documented in the said issue.

Silence in the night - is what the cover motif of the latest issue seems to want to tell us. It was shot by German photographer Michael SCHNABEL c/o MARION ENSTE-JASPERS and is a part of a series titled *Stille Berge* *Silent Mountains*. The series also happens to appear in an unusual picture book of the same title, published by Edition Braus. Further photo editorials featured in the magazine include : Doris Erben’s *Into the nature*, István Avéd's virtuous editorial *Sudden Silence“ as well as *Without Words* by Luigi di Donna.

*Calm* and all the various shapes, sizes and colours it comes in can also be found in the interviews held with characters such as Ohropax (ear plugs) chairman Michael Negwer as well as Elmar Dejaco a hearing impaired architect from Switzerland.

Danish fashion label SAND and Icelandic label ANDERSEN & LAUTH share their Scandanavian understatement in an otherwise more *loud* fashion world. Italian label FREESOUL and its cooperation with Teatro del suono help us delve into the realms of poetic art, fashion and spirituality.

POOL is celebrating its fifth birthday! To mark the occasion of Pool issue 20 on 11. October, the quarterly published, international medium for aesthetic lifestyle culture shall dedicate itself to the celebratory colour of RED.
