Journey to Jerusalem : artistic responses to religion, tradition and taboo. Exhibition and catalogue

The starting point for the ‘Reise nach Jerusalem’ (journey to Jerusalem) publication was the examination of the roles that religion and tradition play for the artists involved in the exhibition and publication and their artistic production.

All the artists featured have chosen Berlin as their new home and share an interest in exploring religion in a contemporary and personal way. The themes are grouped around and focus on the three most important monotheistic religions: Islam, Judaism and Christianity.

The presented work, interpreted in various artistic media such as performance, painting and photography, inspires a dialogue between religion, tradition and art. The correlating exhibition is on show until 17 February 2013 at the Jerusalem Artists House, Jerusalem. Prior to this it was displayed at Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien, Berlin.
