teNeues publishing house : Mapplethorpe's flowers and Elliott's dogs

The teNeues publishing house presents Robert Mapplethorpe's flower photographs, which count as some of his most beautiful works, on 256 pages. By arranging each flower seperately, he ensured a classic pose and reduced them to so small a number of essential forms, that the delicate organisms appear almost muscular. Robert Mapplethorpe was born in 1946 and grew-up on Long Island, New York. He completed his studies at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. In the early eighties, he revolutionized photography with new techniques and formats. He continued to create powerful pictures until his early death of AIDS in 1989. Mapplethorpe - The Complete Flowers Arranged by Dimitri Levas ISBN 3-8327-9168-X A further highlight of the publisher's is Elliott Erwitt's self-compiled picture book of his life's work. Most of the pictures that appear in *Personal Best* have never been published before. The New York residing Magnum photographer, has photographed Hollywood legends such as Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn Monroe. He also loved capturing ironic everyday moments as his famous portraits of people with their dogs go to show. Elliott Erwitt was born in Paris in 1928. He moved to the USA at the end of the 30s where he established himself as a magazine photographer and joined the Magnum photo agency in 1953. Elliott Erwitt - Personal Best ISBN: 3-8327-9162-0 448 pages with 350 tritone photographs Both photo books should be enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere at home - or in the new teNeues Store Munich.
