JOOP! Jeans : at Berlin Fashion Week with designer Dirk Schönberger

JOOP! Presented the new Jeans Women & Men spring/summer 2009 collection in a factory hall, which had been extended just for the purpose of the event, situated in the area of Berlin Berghain. This is JOOP!'s second visit to the German capital, after the successful debut with JOOP! Menswear in January. Here, in this “off-location”, the creations by chief designer Dirk Schönberger were received with great enthusiasm by invited professionals.

The Jeans Men “Electroma” collection focuses on the metamorphosis from robot to human. The slim drainpipe jeans, shirts sporting Asian embroidery and karate belts showed a strong impact of patent & latex, a partially unconventional look. The Jeans Women “Supersonic Geisha” collection consisted of jeans with oversized blouses, kimonoesque draped clothes, latex minis and casual tunics.

The show was organized by GoSee member NOWADAYS. Odile Gilbert was primarily responsible for the models' hairstyling, Rudi Cremers took care of the make-up department and the styling was carried out by GoSee member Alexx & Anton c/o NINA KLEIN, on location.

Particularly interesting: The colourful hats, which were created by Rike Feuerstein for JOOP!JEANS. “All together here and there a few colours and forms too much”, was the feedback's credo after the show. Maida Gregory-Boina made the right choices when it came to the casting of the models, although the boys were quiet overshadowed by the amazon-like girls. A fact which dispersed during the after-show party, where each and everyone appeared to be very young and fresh, once in their natural looks.

Despite a tight door policy, all the city’s usual suspects were there, rubbing shoulders with celebrities. Who can blame them ? Champagne, countless appetizers, an open bar – all these things have a magnetic effect on the trend-conscious and cosmopolitan audience, which seem to know more than one method to find make their way onto the fashion week guest list.

Speaking of stars: Neo Rauch, Daniel Richter, Marc Hosemann, Nicolette Krebitz, Sebastian Blomberg, Lavinia Wilson, Gesine Cukrowski, Natalia Avelon, Thomas Kretschmann, Moritz Bleibtreu, Clemens Schick, Matthias *Matze* Schloo could all be spotted in the crowd, partying with Dirk Schönberger and his crew in the hip joint Panorama Bar to the music of Justice deep into the night.

The faces behind the popular French house-duo are Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, who not only share the same manager as Daft Punk, but are also the most successful band on the Ed Banger label. Justice stands for unusual French-house and modern, sweat-pumping sounds. A fact we literally felt in all its intensity. Strained muscles and headaches are guaranteed house guests after a hell of a ride out like this.
