Getting Lost Is Part Of The Journey - MTV anchor man Steve Blame and the sweet symphony of youth, a GoSee book reputation

“Hi, Steve Blame here with MTV News”. For years, music fans heard Steve announcing his appearance on our screens with this sentence. He is one of the most famous faces of MTV, the channel that embodies the pop culture of a whole generation. His book ‘Getting Lost is Part of the Journey’ was released on the 15th of October 2010.

When MTV opened it gates by the end of the 1980s and went on to conquer all of Europe from the hip town of London, Steve Blame was part of the team. For seven years, he interviewed the big stars from Paul McCartney to Madonna, he met Stevie Wonder and dared to address rather hairy issues with Sir Elton John.

Even figures of such great contemporary relevance as Michail Gorbatschow and the Dalai Lama paid a visit to MTV and could not evade the charm of Steve.

In ‘Getting Lost is Part of the Journey’, he narrates his life story and tells us of his most glamorous experiences: parties, which were music videos, turned reality.

Such as the day, when A-Ha frontman Morten Harket repaired his car. Dancing in a fountain at the Love Parade, when he was supposed to be working or how Madonna helped him to improve his sex life.

In the afterlife of his MTV stint in 1994, he moved to Cologne. He became the head of German music channel Viva Zwei. Steve was in the midst of the media world, partied through the nights – until the bubble burst.

Nowadays, MTV primarily broadcasts reality soaps and adverts for ring tones, Viva Zwei has long been history and the music business changed completely.

The same goes for Steve – he writes screenplays, creates concepts for new TV shows and only makes rare appearances in front of the camera.

He has now written a book about his life between fame and crash, between laissez-faire and self-discipline. With plenty of wit and self-irony, Steve Blame tells of the pitfalls and the insane world of pop music.

‘Getting Lost Is Part Of The Journey’ is a glance backstage and a journey into the pop culture of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, narrated by someone who was in the midst of it all and on top of it too.

The story is about someone who knows, you have to loose yourself first to be able to truly find yourself later. At some point. Maybe.

We met Steve at a multimedia book presentation with live performance and subsequent book signing party, which was hosted by our favourite DJane Kölsch Kylie, alias Suzie von Klee (currently in Olaf’s studio - we are looking forward to the new album).
