GoSee Music Tip: Fabulous Miss Karen Elson's first solo album "The Ghost Who Walks"
Everyone has a defining trait, a cliché, which they simply can’t shake off. Model Karen Elson’s is no longer her red hair. Because Karen can sing. This successful, ethereal figure now graces two worlds; those of flighty fashion and glimmering music.
The Brit beauty’s voice already featured in a Robert Plant Remix in 2003, on a special CD supplement to Uncut magazine in 2005, in a Cat Power duet in 2006 and covered a Serge Gainsbourg song on a tribute album to the French legend. She is also a co-founder of New York’s The Citizens Band cabaret group.
From 25 May onwards, ‘The Ghost Who Walks’ will no longer just be her schoolgirl nickname but also the title of her first solo album.
Whether or not Karen’s husband Jack White of The White Stripes had a considerable influence on her style of sound remains debateable. However, since he produced her album it isn’t entirely beside the point.
Those that wish to make up their own minds about the model-turned-singer and songwriter project will soon have the opportunity of doing so. She is currently touring Europe, the USA and Canada.
