GoSee : Art of the Mountain - Through the Chinese Photographer’s Lens; noch bis August 2019 in New York zu sehen

In Chinesischen Legenden heissst es die Berge seien die Säulen die den Himmel hochhalten. Berge wurden gesehen als die Orte die das Leben nähren, ihre Verehrung wurde in vielen und vielfältigen Ritualen zelebriert. Ihr Bild steht darüber hinaus für den Rückzug vom sozialen Leben mit seinen Versuchungen, Berge wurden vielfach festgehalten in der chinesischen Kunst und sie sind integraler Bestandteil der chinesischen Kultur.

'Art of the Mountain' besteht laut Pressetext aus drei Bereichen : "Revered Mountains of China will introduce the geography, history, legends, and culture that are associated with Chinese mountains and will include photographs by Hou Heliang, Kang Songbai and Kang Liang, Li Daguang, Lin Maozhao, Li Xueliang, Lu Hao, Zhang Anlu, Xiao Chao, Yan Shi, Wang Jing, Zhang Jiaxuan, Zhang Huajie, and Zheng Congli. Landscape Aesthetics in Photography will present Wang Wusheng’s photography of Mount Huangshan, also known as Yellow Mountain, to reflect the renowned Chinese landscape painting aesthetic and its influence. New Landscape Photography includes the works of Hong Lei, Lin Ran, Lu Yanpeng, Shao Wenhuan, Taca Sui, Xiao Xuan’an, Yan Changjiang, Yang Yongliang, Yao Lu, Zeng Han, Gao Hui, and Feng Yan, who express their thoughts on the role of mountains in society."

Kuratiert wuirde die Ausstellung von Willow Weilan Hai, Director, China Institute Gallery; Jerome Silbergeld, P. Y. und Kinmay W. Tang Professor für Chinese Art History an der Princeton University, Emeritus, sowie von Fotograf und Foto-Kritiker Jiang Rong.
