Emeis Deubel is thrilled to announce it is now working with two new talented young photographers: That a sense of a vibrant inner life animates Boerge Sierigk's supple images is no accident – the German photographer is fascinated by his subjects' emotions. On set, Boerge's ability to connect on a deep level with the people he is shooting allows the former painter to capture not just light, shape and form, but a glimpse into the soul.
Pascal Schonlau’s work explores the boundaries of shape and appearance under the influence of digital media. Playing with sleek surfaces – a main characteristic of digital creations – the images appear hyperreal and artificial. Small imperfections and discrepancies within his pictures seem to be proof of a ‘natural’ origin and thereby create ambiguity for the viewer. His sculptural approach and stylistic lighting emphasize the natural enigma of both person and object.
